training: styles

GROUP TRAINING: IN-HOUSE

  • Accomodated groups of two to twelve
  • Taught from computer hooked to overhead, with identical setup on each student’s computer for “following along”
  • All day, front-of-class lecture style interspersed with individual and smaller group-within-group training
  • Responsible for all logistics: coordination with all participants, room booking, software install, tech support, troubleshooting, all student handouts
  • Frequent updates to software meant additional group training requirements

GROUP TRAINING: REMOTE

  • Within Canada: frequent XMetaL/MathFlow remote training sessions
  • Outside Canada: customized, biweekly/monthly eXtyles/MathType training sessions with Charlesworth in China
  • NetMeeting or WebeX
  • Conference calling where required
  • Responsible for all logistics: coordination with all participants, room booking, software install, tech support, troubleshooting, all student handouts

INDIVIDUAL TRAINING: IN-HOUSE

  • One-on-one training in XMetaL, eXtyles, MathFlow, MathType had similar format and set-up to group training, but was used to accomodate sudden new hires or transfers
  • Additional individual training following group training was also available on an as-needed basis (from hours to days or weeks).

INDIVIDUAL TRAINING: REMOTE
